CTC hosts Rockhampton Charity Event to Support Mental Health Funding

CTC is a leading community organisation dedicated to supporting at-risk young people into employment and housing, and we’re about to host a unique fund and awareness-raising campaign to highlight mental health in the Rockhampton region.

The free event, Beyond Blue Table, aims to raise awareness about mental health issues and the importance of early intervention and support and raise vital funds for Beyond Blue’s Support Service.  The event will feature a range of activities, including games, guest speakers and conversation to support mental health in the Rockhampton community.

CTC (Part of the IntoWork Group) sees first-hand the significant impact that mental health challenges can have on individuals, families, and communities.

We run a range of programs such as CYCLE (aimed at engaging young people at risk of youth crime and anti-social behaviour), pre-employment courses including Get Set for Work, Women in Construction (Cert II Resources and Infrastructure) and the Youth Housing And Reintegration Service, which supports over 600 people per year.

“95 percent of our participants struggle with complex mental health issues which has affected housing, employment, education and connection in the community.  Our general well-being and quality of life are based on our mental health.  It includes all aspects of our psychological, emotional, and social health and allows us to manage stress, build strong connections, build positive relationships, develop resilience and maintain a positive outlook on life,” Program Manager April Ibbotson said.

By hosting Beyond Blue Table, CTC is aiming to foster a sense of unity and support, encouraging open conversations about mental health and reducing the stigma surrounding it, “We are excited to bring the community together for Beyond Blue Table, and raise much-needed funds for mental health initiatives. Nearly half of us will need mental health support in our lifetime, its vital people know support is out there for them,” April said.

“This event provides an opportunity for individuals and businesses in Rockhampton to make a tangible difference in the lives of those affected by mental health challenges. Together, we can create a more supportive and inclusive community.”

CTC invites individuals, businesses, and community organisations to join them in supporting this important cause. Attendees will have the chance to connect with like-minded individuals, learn about local mental health resources, and con-tribute to the ongoing efforts to improve mental health outcomes in Rockhampton.

Beyond Blue Table will take place on October 30 at Armstrong Street Community Gardens from 11am – 2pm. For those unable to attend, donations can be made directly through https://bigbluetable.com.au/april-ibbotson
