School-based apprenticeships and traineeships allow work (i.e. ‘on-the-job training’) to occur at times that meet your business requirements (i.e. weekdays or Saturdays, Sundays or late-night shopping nights for example) so long as adequate supervision is provided.
These students are dedicated and want to learn more about your industry and often have a goal to pursue a career in the field that they want to undertake a school-based apprenticeship or traineeship in. Essentially you will have a passionate employee willing to take on work and learn from the best.
By taking on a school based trainee, your business may also attract incentives from the Australian Government’s Australian Apprenticeships Incentives Programme. For a school-based Certificate II level traineeship, it may be up to $2,000 and for a Certificate III level qualification, it may be up to $4,750 (eligibility terms and conditions apply).
