Mayor launches newly revamped CTC

A win for Rockhampton jobs, employers and regional Queensland economies

Regional Queensland faces some of the highest youth unemployment in the country. Australian Bureau of Statistics data shows youth unemployment (aged 15-24) in the Rockhampton area ranges from 20% up to 46%.

For more than 29  years, Capricornia Training Company Ltd (CTC) has successfully recruited more than 2000 people in the Rockhampton, Livingstone and Central Queensland  areas into careers as apprentices and trainees.

In July 2015, CTC joined national giant IntoWork Australia, one of the largest employers of apprentices and trainees in Australia. Since joining IntoWork, CTC has robustly boosted its job services on offer to job seekers, employers, trainees and apprentices including its nationally recognised and accredited training programs in the Rockhampton region.

CTC is creating jobs, offering new services such as job matching for candidates to the best employer, helping youths and job seekers with career choices and helping make apprenticeships simple for employers. CTC also has a range of free online tools and face-to-face opportunities to help job seekers choose vocational pathways.

This launch is to promote CTC’s new brand, new robust employment service offerings in the Rockhampton and Central Queensland region, the newly renovated building located at 38 Armstrong Street following the previous building being destroyed by severe tropical cyclone Marcia on 20 February 2015. New service offerings include job matching the right candidates to the right employers, new free online tools and new training programs. This all ads up to a win for youth, jobs, apprentices, trainees, employers and local economic growth in regional Queensland.

For newly appointed General Manager and local Darryl Lapworth the new and improved CTC is a win for local regional economies and an opportunity to better service the needs of the Rockhampton and Central Queensland region.

Darryl Lapworth said: “The CTC union with IntoWork Australia is a positive win for employment in regional Queensland. Rockhampton areas face some of the highest youth unemployment in Australia and a new and improved CTC will boost apprentice, employer and trainee services in this region which is a triumph for jobs, economic growth, skills training and fulfilling the career dreams of young people.”

IntoWork CEO Mr Bottern said: “CTC shares a similar values-based service delivery model to IntoWork, with a focus on individuals and local communities. We both aspire to excellence in workforce participation; we focus on people with diverse backgrounds and share a commitment to make a positive difference to the people and communities we work with. This new connection empowers CTC to continue to sustain and service regional Queensland to meet the needs of employers and apprentices and create positive vocational and economic pathways for people, particularly youth, to help achieve their dreams.”
